Ferrell's total career numbers are 96 pressures, 10 sacks, 20 quarterback hits, 63 quarterback hurries, 11 batted-down passes, 91 total tackles, and 57 stops in the backfield.
The 49ers add some depth to their front line, particularly as an edge rusher. With the departures of Charles Omenihu (Chiefs), Samson Ebukam (Colts), Jordan Willis (free agent), and Kerry Hyder Jr. (free agent), Clelin Ferrell gives the 49ers depth at the edge position. Ferrell will join Nick Bosa, Drake Jackson, and Alex Barrett.
Ferrell gets the opportunity to be coached by Kris Korcurek. A few years back, Kocurek took a former teammate of Ferrell's, Arden Key, and developed him into a premier pass rusher in the league. Ferrell is 6-foot-4 inches and weighs around 265 pounds. He has the length, size, and, most importantly, the get-off.
Ferrell seems to be a perfect fit for Kocurek's well-coached defensive line.
