The San Francisco 49ers are hiring former Denver Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak to replace Bobby Slowik, who departed to become the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network first reported the news of the addition.

Kubiak will serve as the 49ers' next offensive passing game coordinator or perhaps a similar role.

Kubiak entered the NFL coaching ranks as an offensive assistant with the Broncos in 2016. He went on to serve the Minnesota Vikings as their quarterbacks coach (2019-20) and offensive coordinator (2021). Kubiak returned to the Broncos last season.

The Houston Texans were reportedly interested in having Kubiak join head coach DeMeco Ryans' new staff.

Klint Kubiak is the son of former Texans and Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak and joins his brother Klay on head coach Kyle Shanahan's staff. Klay Kubiak is San Francisco's assistant quarterbacks coach.
