"I hope we get a chance to put this team up against them when it really counts, in the playoffs," Jones said. "... [W]e've got to get by them to get where we want to go."
The 49ers and Cowboys won't meet in the first round of the playoffs this season. The No. 2 seeded 49ers host the No. 7 seeded Seattle Seahawks on Saturday afternoon. The No. 5 seeded Cowboys will travel to face the No. 4 seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.
Jones isn't the only one thinking back to last year's playoff meeting between the two teams. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott still has that 49ers-Cowboys game on his mind. He was asked if that loss is still on players' minds and if they use it as motivation.
"Damn right. Damn right," Prescott responded, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. "And obviously, after a game like last week, that helps remind you."
A 49ers-Cowboys Divisional Round matchup is possible, assuming the 49ers, Cowboys, and New York Giants advance to the second round. The Philadelphia Eagles would host the lowest-seeded winner from the Wild Card Round. Under that scenario, if that is the Giants, San Francisco will host Dallas next weekend.
