The San Francisco 49ers have secured the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs after beating the Arizona Cardinals 38-13 on Sunday. However, the team could not move up to the No. 1 seed because the Philadelphia Eagles took care of business, beating the New York Giants 22-16.

That means the 49ers will host either the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, or Green Bay Packers at Levi's Stadium on Wild Card Weekend. The date and time for that game will be announced tonight.

San Francisco awaits Sunday night's outcome between the Lions and Packers to determine their Wild Card opponent. A Green Bay win would mean a Packers trip to Levi's Stadium. A Seahawks win and a Packers loss would mean a 49ers-Seahawks rematch. A Lions win and a Seahawks loss would mean a trip to Santa Clara for Detroit.

The Seahawks are playing the Los Angeles Rams in overtime, as of this post.

Update: The Seahawks won in overtime, eliminating the Lions from the playoffs.

Should the 49ers win in the opening round of the postseason, they are guaranteed a home game in the NFC Divisional Playoff round. In addition, the team could even host the NFC Championship Game should the No. 1 seeded Philadelphia Eagles get knocked off in the second round.

The 49ers finished the regular season with a 13-4 record, 10 consecutive wins, and the second NFC West title during head coach Kyle Shanahan's tenure.
