"I think he has a chance to practice tomorrow," Shanahan told reporters before the first full practice of the week. "It depends on how today's workout goes and stuff."
Shanahan provided other injury updates during today's pre-practice press conference, including an update on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who had his cast removed this week. Does the coach have a better idea regarding Garoppolo's timeline to return to the field?
"No. Nothing's changed with that," Shanahan responded. "He just got the hard cast off, so he's not able to move around and do stuff yet. They're still in the training room process, not out on the field or anything. So not much has changed."
Garoppolo was spotted in the locker room, getting around with the assistance of a scooter, obviously unable to put a lot of pressure on the broken foot he sustained on December 4.
Note: The tweet by Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated has been deleted but can be found below from his YouTube channel.
The coach also provided an update on defensive tackle Kevin Givens, who is expected to be ready for the playoffs.
"He's on schedule for that," Shanahan said.
Givens suffered an MCL sprain against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 11.
Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw will not practice today, but not because of any setback in his knee.
"That was the plan all along," Shanahan noted. "We're going to have him go full tomorrow."
