Purdy did play and played well. The rookie quarterback completed 17 of his 26 pass attempts for 217 yards and two touchdowns. The 22-year-old passer feels much better this week, thanks to some extended time off after last week's game.
"Yeah, I feel a lot better compared to last week, going into the game and everything," Purdy told reporters after Wednesday's practice. "Just compared to how I felt going into the game, and then obviously getting three days before doing anything, of just rest and recovery, I feel a lot better."
There was no doubt in Purdy's mind that he would start the game against the Seahawks. However, he wasn't sure if he would be able to finish it, given how he was feeling.
"I knew I was going to start the game," Purdy said, "and roll from there and see how it felt. But there was never a question of if I was going to play or not."
Purdy ended up finishing the game without any real issues. Even after getting hit, he felt he could push forward, attributing some of that to the adrenaline of playing in an NFL game.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be," Purdy admitted. "Just the blood was pumping. I was in the game mode. So those kinds of hits were fine. It was just after the game, the next day, you feel a little sore from those kinds of things, but that's like every game."
Purdy was reportedly throwing the football better during Wednesday's practice than Tuesday's. That bodes well for the Niners, who host a Christmas Eve game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday at Levi's Stadium.
