As is often the case, the Cowboys' 2021 playoff run ended after one game. This time, it was a 23-17 home loss to the 49ers. San Francisco went on to beat the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field before falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams in the NFC title game.
Next up for the Cowboys are the Rams at SoFi Stadium. So you can bet Jones was watching Monday night's bout between the Rams and the 49ers.
"Both those are good teams," Jones said during his regular interview on the "Shan and RJ" show, per Logan Mullen of 95.7 The Game. "I thought last year we had a chance and could compete against those teams, we didn't get it done against San Francisco last year.
"I hope we get a chance to put this team up against them when it really counts, in the playoffs. Those are two teams you should watch, you should have your eye on because somehow we've got to get by them to get where we want to go."
The Cowboys, who lost starting quarterback Dan Prescott to a thumb injury in Week 1's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are 3-1 heading into their matchup against the Rams. While Prescott still struggles with properly gripping the football, Jones has not yet ruled the quarterback out for Sunday's game in Inglewood, California.
The Rams are 2-2 after their 24-9 loss to the 49ers at Levi's Stadium on Monday night.
