The Niners initially signed Snead, 29, to a one-year deal in August. Snead spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, recording four receptions for 38 yards through nine game appearances. He has amassed 279 career catches for 3,431 yards with 16 touchdowns through 95 games with 48 starts since 2015.
Snead entered the league with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State in 2014. He was released as part of the 49ers' cut-down to 53 players in August but was signed to the practice squad.
