NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports that the team has reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension with linebacker Dre Greenlaw, keeping him with the team through the 2024 season. It includes close to $19 million with $10 million guaranteed.
What does the new deal mean to the 49ers linebacker?
"Just not to worry about anything financial, to be able to lock in and focus on just playing, really," Greenlaw said in the 49ers locker room after the game. "... Now I can just play ball. I don't have to worry about getting injured. Whatever I do, I just go and do it hard. I'm happy to be a part of this organization for two more years. We've got a great group of people, so I'm excited to see just how far we can get, try to get a couple of championships in those three years too."
San Francisco made Greenlaw (6-0, 227) a fifth-round selection (No. 148 overall) out of Arkansas in 2019. The 25-year-old linebacker entered Week 2 having recorded 204 tackles, two sacks, three passes defensed, two interceptions, and a touchdown in 33 game appearances (25 starts) through his four NFL seasons.
