Inactives:
- OL Daniel Brunskill (hamstring)
- RB Tyrion Davis-Price
- WR Danny Gray
- TE George Kittle (groin)
- QB Brock Purdy
- DL Jordan Willis
- OL Nick Zakelj
Brunskill was ruled "out" on Friday. Four rookies—Davis-Price, Gray, Purdy, and Zakelj—are inactive.
On Saturday night, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle revealed that Kittle was not expected to play against the Bears. The star tight end suffered a groin injury this past week and didn't participate in the three practices leading to the weekend. He was officially listed as "questionable" on Friday's injury report.
Earlier on Saturday, the 49ers activated safety Tashaun Gipson and wide receiver Malik Turner from the practice squad. Turner could be valuable on special teams, while Gipson could help in the defensive backfield. Starting safety Jimmie Ward will miss at least the first four games of the season due to a hamstring injury. He started the season on injured reserve.
