Running back Elijah Mitchell has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the preseason. However, he still appears on pace to start Week 1.
"Yeah, he does seem on schedule," Shanahan said. "We won't get him this week, but things are looking to have him back for Week 1."
Mike McGlinchey has been dealing with knee issues since the preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. While Shanahan sounded less sure about his starting right tackle, the team remains optimistic that McGlinchey will be available against the Chicago Bears on September 11.
A torn quadriceps injury in Week 9 shortened McGlinchey's 2021 season.
"I think there's a chance (of missing regular-season games) because they haven't told me 100 percent for sure," Shanahan said of McGlinchey. "But they're pretty optimistic about it. We took it real slow with him, and then he had that setback in the game. It wasn't the exact same injury, but it was still on the same leg. So we wanted to take it slow with him, and we rested him last week.
"We're going to rest him this week, and ramp him up next week, and see how the pain tolerance is."
