The Seahawks are one of the few remaining quarterback-needy teams. They are armed with significant draft capital thanks to the trade of Russell Wilson.
With everyone discussing Garoppolo trade possibilities, one former Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Indianapolis Colts running back shared his opinion on the team that could most benefit from the quarterback.
"I think the team that needs Jimmy Garoppolo the most, honestly, is the 49ers," Robert Turbin said on NFL Network. "I think he needs to stay put where he is, absolutely. They've been to the NFC Championship Game two of the last three years, making a Super Bowl appearance one of those years.
"We know he's had some health issues, but he's a proven winner as well. He gives them the best chance to win. He's been a consistent leader. The guys on the offense know him. They have great chemistry amongst one another."
What of Trey Lance, last year's No. 3 overall pick? The second-year quarterback is slated to be the 49ers' Week 1 starter. However, Turbin believes it's Garoppolo, not Lance, that gives San Francisco the best chance to win this season.
"And if you're the 49ers, you should play this patiently with Trey Lance," Turbin added. "Jimmy Garoppolo, if you want to win right now, gives you the best chance while Trey Lance can continue to develop as a quarterback."
H/t to Marc Adams for the find.
