NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reports that league expectations continue to be that Garoppolo will be traded by the end of the month. To whom remains the question.
As for the shoulder recovery, Pelissero received an update from Garoppolo's agent, Don Yee.
"He's progressing well and on schedule," Yee said of the 49ers quarterback. "We're optimistic about the upcoming season."
The 49ers expected Garoppolo to start throwing again in early July. That means the quarterback is close to doing so—if he hasn't already.
Yee also addressed a report by former NFL defensive tackle Dan Sileo, who stated that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns had reached out to the 49ers about Garoppolo and said that the quarterback started trowing two weeks ago.
"Over the weekend, a report came out that asserted that I had spoken to a media member about his future, but the report was false," Yee said.
49ers players report to training camp on July 26. The team would obviously like to trade Garoppolo before that date but has repeatedly stated that it is willing to hold onto the quarterback if an agreeable trade offer is not made. Second-year quarterback Trey Lance, last year's No. 3 overall pick, is expected to be San Francisco's full-time starter during the upcoming season.
