"Tyrion is a guy we're very fond of, has a style that can best be described as physical and tough, and he's also got some speed to go with that package," general manager John Lynch said on April 29. "When you can add toughness and speed, he's in a bigger package."
Davis-Price carried the football 211 times for 1,003 yards and six rushing touchdowns, adding 10 receptions for 64 yards through 12 game appearances as a junior in 2021, per Sports Reference. He had 1,744 rushing yards on 379 attempts and 15 rushing touchdowns, adding 28 receptions for 185 yards through his three collegiate seasons.
"I love delivering the blow," Davis-Price told reporters after being drafted. "I don't like getting tackled, I know it happens, but I hate getting tackled. I love bringing the contact to them so that they don't want to tackle you. In the first, second quarter they might take it a little bit, but eventually they don't want anymore of it. That is always my mindset, to go and attack the defender and wear them out, make them quit."
Thanks to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which runs through the 2030 season, all rookie contracts are for a length of four years. First-round selections come with an option for a fifth year, which doesn't apply to any of the 49ers' nine draft selections.
The total value of Davis-Price's four-year contract is set to be $5,326,732, per OverTheCap.com. That includes a signing bonus of $1,053,988 and a 2022 salary-cap figure of $968,497.
"I grew up watching the 49ers," Davis-Price shared. "I grew up in Louisiana, so some Saints too, but I grew up with the 49ers. My grandfather was a 49ers fan, and he loves the 49ers. I just planning to go in there and doing my part and doing everything I can do for the team. I'll lay it all on the line everyday at practice, give my 110 percent in each game, special teams, whatever it may be. Whatever the team needs, I'm there. I'm accountable. I'm glad to be a 49er."
