Castro-Fields is good value in the sixth round, given his athleticism and press-coverage ability, and could participate as quality depth at the cornerback position in his rookie season.
When asked about how he modeled his game after, Castro-Fields noted players like Richard Sherman due to his mind, especially focusing on the fundamentals.
"I wouldn't say modeled but definitely watched. I mean, guys like Richard Sherman, just how smart he is. Guys like Jalen Ramsey, Kyle Fuller, Tre'Davious White. A lot of those guys are good at the fundamentals and they're a dog. When you add those two things, you're kind of unstoppable."
While Castro-Fields was one of the better cornerbacks in college football, he looks forward to starting over and being given the chance to showcase his talent on the biggest stage.
"I think just to prove myself again, starting at square one. I'm going to be a rookie again and I can't wait just to shock the world and prove everything that I know. I can't wait to bring that to the 49ers. I mean, I have family in The Bay, so this is a dream come true. It's a perfect spot for me and I can't wait to go to work."
With Castro-Fields in the fold, the 49ers now have a full cornerback room with Emmanuel Moseley, Charvarius Ward, Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir, Dontae Johnson, Darqueze Dennard, as well as fifth-round selection Samuel Womack out of Toledo.
