With the selection, the 49ers bolstered their ever-so-strong defensive line, shoring up a potential need with a player who was even mocked in the first round by a few analysts heading into the draft.
Now, with two more selections on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, what positions and players should the 49ers target?
Currently, the 49ers still have a hole at the safety position opposite Jimmie Ward, with uncertainty around whether current safeties Tarvarious Moore, George Odum, or Talanoa Hufanga can be the long-term safety.
There are still multiple options available, as Maryland's Nick Cross, Illinois's Kerby Joseph, Baylor's JT Woods, and Oregon's Verone McKinley are all on the board.
Additionally, with the potential looming retirement of veteran center Alex Mack, the 49ers should target offensive line within their next few selections.
At offensive guard, UCLA's Sean Rhyan, Memphis's Dylan Parham, and Kentucky's Darrian Kennard are available, while Arizona State's Dohnovan West and Boston College's Alec Lindstrom are the centers available.
However, should a player fall in the draft and be the best available player, that might be an enticing avenue to pursue for the 49ers, such as defensive tackle Travis Jones out of Connecticut.
