FS1's Colin Cowherd proposed a trade that he feels might be enough to entice San Francisco to part with the dynamic receiver. After all, with the draft just hours away, the chatter out of Las Vegas, the site of the event, is that a potential 49ers-Jets deal is not yet dead.
"Deebo Samuel to the Jets—let's take the Jets' perspective—is not a terrible idea. So let's look at the big picture," Cowherd explained (h/t The Spun). "He's a really good player, and he's a star player for a franchise (the Jets) that doesn't have one. Buffalo is absolutely loaded. New England's got a great coach, the best ever, and Mac Jones in year two. He'll be stabilized. And Miami? Massive upgrade offensively."
Cowherd notes that the Jets finished in fourth place within the AFC East last season after winning just four games. Adding an explosive playmaker for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson makes sense. Samuel is a known commodity. You can't say the same about any player drafted at No. 10.
Here is what Cowherd proposes for a 49ers-Jets trade.
- 49ers receive: No. 10 and 38 overall picks, a third-rounder in 2023
- Jets receive: Deebo Samuel
What do you think? Is that enough to convince the 49ers to part with their disgruntled receiver who recently asked to be traded?
