- Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator and Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was hired to serve as assistant head coach.
- LSU graduate assistant Asauni Rufus is reportedly set to serve in a quality control position.
- Former Jacksonville Jaguars special teams coordinator Nick Sorensen is being hired as a defensive assistant.
- Michigan graduate assistant Stephen Adegoke is expected to serve in a defensive quality control role.
Promotions
- Offensive quality control coach Brian Fleury was promoted to tight ends coach, replacing Jon Embree.
- Quality control coach Leonard Hankerson offered the job of wide receivers coach, replacing Wes Welker.
Departures
- Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel leaves to become the Dolphins' head coach.
- The Bears hire special teams coordinator Richard Hightower.
- Assistant head coach and tight ends coach Jon Embree was not retained. He later joined McDaniel's staff in Miami to serve in the same role he had with the 49ers.
- Wide receivers coach Wes Welker leaves for the same role with the Dolphins.
- Assistant offensive line coach Butch Barry leaves to become the Broncos offensive line coach.
- Assistant offensive line coach Zach Yenser leaves to become the offensive line coach at Kentucky.
- Senior defensive assistant and run-game specialist James Bettcher leaves to become the Bengals' linebackers coach.
- Quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello leaves to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky.
- Running backs coach Bobby Turner is not expected to be with the team in 2022.
