In a hard-fought, gutsy, come-from-behind performance, Jimmy Garoppolo showed up when it mattered, with significant help from special teams and a masterful defensive performance, to put away the #1 seed in the NFC.
"It took everything," Garoppolo told FOX Sports' Tom Rinaldi after the game. "We knew it was going to. I mean, just offense, defense, special teams, everybody stepping up, doing their part. I wouldn't have it any other way."
As they've done on so many occasions in the Jimmy Garoppolo era, the 49ers compiled a game-winning drive after the defense stopped the Packers with 3:30 remaining in the 4th quarter.
"We knew [we were getting a last chance] on the sideline," Garoppolo said. "The defense was holding them. They really couldn't do much offensively. We knew it was just going to take one drive. We strung a couple together there, especially at the end, guys stepping up big in key moments. It was just a big team effort. It was awesome."
This San Francisco team's potential is sky-high and Garoppolo knows it, as they now await the Los Angeles Rams or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship game.
"Dangerous, man," Garoppolo said. "When a team gets hot, it's dangerous. We've just got to keep this thing going, focus on next week now, and keep this thing rolling."
How does Garoppolo's shoulder and thumb feel after that physical performance?
"Feels great," Garoppolo said with a smile.
