Only three players—defensive end Nick Bosa (concussion), cornerback Ambry Thomas (knee), and defensive end Jordan Willis (ankle)—were listed as "questionable" for the game. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan sounded optimistic that Bosa and Thomas would be available against the Green Bay Packers.
"We've got to put him on there because of the steps of the [concussion] protocol, but it's looking good," Shanahan said of Bosa.
Garoppolo is still dealing with the torn ligament in his right thumb, an injury that NFL insider Ian Rapoport insists will require offseason surgery. In addition, the quarterback suffered a right shoulder sprain during Sunday's playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys. The good news is that he has reportedly looked sharp while throwing the football this week during the portions of practices open to the media.
Warner left Sunday's game with an ankle sprain and did not return. The injury initially looked like it might be serious, but the star linebacker avoided a high-ankle sprain, which might have forced him to miss time. Earlier this week, the defender explained why he was confident he would be good to go this weekend.
"I think just the fact that the MRI results came back great," Warner said. "It was good news for sure, and just the way I've been feeling gives me a lot of confidence for Saturday."
Jordan Willis did suffer a high-ankle sprain, but Shanahan wasn't counting him out for Saturday either.
"He's had high-ankle sprains before," Shanahan said. "So the fact that he has a chance to go this week means it could be a little bit more of an old injury mixed with some new. So the fact that he has a chance makes me hope that it's a little bit more of the old.
"We'll see how he reacts on this plane ride and when we get out there because that doesn't usually help. So, we'll get him on his feet tomorrow in our walkthrough and stuff. But if he ends up playing, I think that kind of tells you it was a little bit more of an old injury."
