"It was definitely tested," Garoppolo said of his injured thumb. "It's football. I don't know what to say. It [expletive] hurt. Sorry, but it is what it is. We got the win, and that's all that matters."
It was an exciting game that fans and players will remember for a while. The 49ers won their sixth consecutive game against the Rams.
"It was a special moment," Garoppolo said. "There were times on the sideline where we were all talking and the tie, we heard about it, and we didn't want to think about it. We wanted to get this win, and that's what we did. Just guys came together. Guys made huge plays on third down. The defense stepped up huge.
"The interception by Ambry [Thomas] at the end there, I mean, a rookie making that play, all the things are coming together. It was a good night."
A loss would have ended the 49ers' playoff hopes. Now, they are headed to the postseason and will travel to face the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild-card round.
"All it takes is to get in, and we'll see what happens going down to Dallas now," Garoppolo said. "It will be a great challenge for us, but I know these guys are ready."
