The 49ers have already ruled out linebacker Fred Warner, who suffered a hamstring strain against the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend. However, San Francisco hopes to have him back for Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Greenlaw irritated his core muscle injury against the Vikings, and head coach Kyle Shanahan declared him to be day-to-day this week. It's the same injury that landed Greenlaw on injured reserve after Week 1.
"We'll see how this week goes," Shanahan said on Monday.
San Francisco made Greenlaw a fifth-round draft pick in 2019. In three NFL seasons, he has recorded 187 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, two sacks, four quarterback hits, two interceptions, a touchdown, and four passes defended through 31 game appearances and 23 starts.
The absence of Greenlaw leaves the 49ers with linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, and Marcell Harris. Harris, however, is in the concussion protocol this week. The team also has Tyrell Adams on the practice squad.
