NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the team's leading receiver is "expected to miss a little time." However, the good news is that the injury does not appear to be a long-term one.
"My groin got kind of tight once I went to make a move," Samuel explained after the 49ers' 34-26 victory. "So, I was just like, 'Let's not make nothing any worse.' And that's why I just went down. ... Not too much concerned. I've got an MRI and stuff in the morning, and we'll just go see how it goes."
This morning, the receiver did tweet out the following. While Samuel often notes that not all of his social media posts are football-related, fans are likely hoping this one is an indication that the injury is not serious.
Samuel has recorded 56 catches for 1,006 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns this season. He is the first 49ers wide receiver to surpass 1,000 receiving yards since Anquan Boldin did so in 2014.
Samuel also has 25 carries for 203 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. One hundred forty-five of those rushing yards have come over the last two weeks.
Linebacker Fred Warner is also undergoing an MRI due to a hamstring injury suffered in the same game.
