Trey Lance continues to look good throwing footballs during the portions of practice that are open to the media. The rookie quarterback is recovering from a chipped bone in his finger, an injury suffered on August 29 against the Las Vegas Raiders. For now, things appear to be trending in the direction of Lance being available on Sunday. He was limited today.
Here is a nice deep pass from Lance to running back Raheem Mostert.
Two starters who reporters are keeping an eye on this week are cornerback Emmanuel Moseley and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw. Moseley did not practice while Kinlaw was limited. Wide receiver Jalen Hurd, who has not practiced since playing in the August 29 preseason game, was not out there today. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens, who did not practice yesterday, was limited today.
Yesterday, Kyle Shanahan said he expected Kinlaw to return to practice today. However, the coach was not as certain about Hurd.
"I think Hurd's [injury] is a little worse than Kinlaw's," Shanahan told reporters. "I expect Kinlaw to be out there tomorrow. I'm hoping he will be. I'm not sure about Hurd."
Shanahan added that injured reserve is a possibility for Hurd.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Lions, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
