San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert looks as though he hasn't lost a step. Remember when there was random offseason chatter that the team should consider trading the veteran runner? It's doubtful many are thinking that way now.

Mostert finished the game with 53 yards on seven carries and looked just as explosive as the running back that helped carry the 49ers to a Super Bowl during the 2019 season. Injuries limited Mostert's 2020 campaign to just eight games, and he missed the last two games of the season after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.


"It felt great out here," Mostert told Vern Glenn of KPIX 5 after the 34-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. "Coming out here, I haven't played ball since like November, December. But it was great getting out here, getting some plays in, and running with the ones, and stuff like that. You saw how we were flowing."

Mostert did not play in the 49ers' first two preseason games. The team combined for an impressive 246 total rushing yards against the Raiders on the way to the preseason rout.

"Just got to continue that momentum," Mostert continued, "carry it on to the season, which we are. But it's looking good."

The 49ers have a lot of depth at running back. That will create some difficult choices leading to Tuesday's deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters down from 80 players to 53.

"They've got to make decisions this coming Tuesday, and it's going to be tough," Mostert said. "All the running backs in the room, from me all the way down to the rookies and stuff, Wayne Gallman, everybody, just doing their part. And we're all just happy and fortunate enough to have each other's back."
