Fourth Quarter


GAME ALERT: The Chiefs beat the 49ers 19-16 after an illegal shift penalty prompting the ten second runoff on the last snap for the 49ers. Game 1 for the 49ers are in the wraps.


SCORE ALERT: Chiefs quarterback Shane Buechele scores on a quarterback keeper on third and goal to give the Chiefs the lead 19-16 with 1:14 remaining in the 4th. Harrison Butker missed the extra point.


REDZONE ALERT: The Chiefs are inside the 49ers 20 with under two minutes left down only three points.


SCORE ALERT: JaMycal Hasty muscles into the endzone to give the 49ers the lead 16-13 with 2:37 to play after a challenge overturns the original call.


Nsimba Magic has arrived in the preseason. The lightning-quick returner/wideout gets a couple electrifying pickups to start the 49ers drive with a 43-yard punt return and 34-yard rush on an end around.



SCORE ALERT: Chiefs get a field goal after the 49ers get a third-down sack. They lead the 49ers 13-9 with 4:32 left in the fourth.


SACK ALERT: Shilique Calhoun and Eddie Vanderdoes stop the Chiefs on 3rd down for a sack.


TURNOVER ALERT: JaMycal Hasty fumbles the football on a promising drive at Kansas City's 43 yard line.

Third Quarter


SCORE ALERT: The Chiefs lead the 49ers heading into the 4th with a score of 10-9.


TURNOVER ALERT: Josh Rosen throws a redzone interception to Armani Watts on a pass intended to Travis Benjamin at the KC 2 with 1:04 left in the 3rd.



INJURY ALERT: Aaron Banks is questionable to return with a shoulder injury.


SCORE ALERT: Harrison Butker makes a 52-yard field goal to give the Chiefs the lead 10-9 with 8:49 left in the third.


Trey Lance exits his NFL debut after one series in the second half. Josh Rosen, not Nate Sudfeld, will come in, likely to finish the game

Lance ends 5/14, with 128 passing yards and one 80-yard touchdown in his NFL preseason debut.

Trey Lance enters the second half as the starter still. Many key reps for the rookie in his first NFL action.



Second Quarter


SCORE ALERT: 49ers lead at halftime against the Chiefs with a score of 9-7.


Trey Lance's first challenge is a success. After being on his own 1-yard line, Lance throws a gem to tight end Charlie Woerner off a play-action to get out of the jam. Great throw.



SCORE ALERT: After the interception by Deommodore Lenoir, the 49ers reach the redzone and pick up a Field Goal.



First Quarter


INJURY ALERT: Trey Sermon seems to have hurt his hand on a fumble, but the 49ers recover. Little scary for a running back who likes running inside the tackles.


Welcome to the NFL, Deommodore Lenoir. The rookie gets his first NFL interception.




SCORE ALERT: Trey Lance gets his FIRST NFL touchdown. Let the Trey Lance hype begin. Beautiful 80-yard touchdown pass to Trent Sherfield.



The defense gets a stop against Mahomes and the Chiefs 1st team

Drive one ends in a punt. It was a great drive by Jimmy Garoppolo, who didn't throw a single incompletion.
