San Francisco released the defender on March 12 but kept an eye on his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered in 2019. Blair did not play last season.
Blair, 28, has spent each of his five NFL seasons with the 49ers. San Francisco made him a fifth-round selection out of Appalachian State in 2016. The defensive lineman recorded 21 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for a loss, and three quarterback hits through nine game appearances in 2019 before suffering his knee injury in Week 10.
Blair started the 2020 season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, where he remained all year. He has recorded 88 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and a forced fumble through his first four NFL seasons.
The 49ers will work out tight end MyCole Pruitt on Wednesday, per Josina Anderson. He is traveling to Santa Clara today. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler was the first to report San Francisco's interest in Pruitt, noting the impending workout, which follows a visit with the Baltimore Ravens last week.
