"Peters blocked 5 kicks/punts in college," Melo notes. "Really good special teams player."
Peters recorded 42 tackles, a tackle for a loss, an interception, and four passes defensed through 10 games as a senior in 2020, per Sports Reference. He registered 101 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, two sacks, eight passes defensed, and a forced fumble in four seasons with the Tigers.
As Melo points out, in addition to his increased role in the secondary this past season, Peters has been a big part of Auburn's special teams unit.
"He's played a very significant role on our special teams since the day that he's gotten there, the day that I've gotten here," special teams coordinator Larry Porter told Al.com. "He's on every phase. He's involved in every phase. And we kind of see him as a staple within special teams. In every phase, you can feel his presence in some kind of way. We bring new guys in, we kind of use him as a model."
NFL teams are allowed to conduct up to five video calls per prospect leading to the draft, and each call can last up to one hour. There is no limit to how many phone conversations NFL teams can conduct with draft-eligible players.
The NFL Draft begins on April 29.
