"An incredible player that's easy to love on tape," wrote Melo in his quick evaluation.
The 49ers could find themselves in need of some help along the edges of the offensive line. The team would like to retain eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, who is scheduled to become a sought-after free agent in a couple of weeks. He is expected to become one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in the league.
San Francisco has Mike McGlinchey, a former first-round pick, situated at right tackle. While he earned a career-high overall Pro Football Focus grade (79.7) this past season, strengthened by a phenomenal run-blocking grade of 91.3, McGlinchey's pass-blocking grade of 58.3 was a career-low.
Jenkins has collegiate experience at both tackle spots. He appeared in 12 games with three starts at right tackle in 2017 before starting all 13 games the next year. Ten of those games were played at right tackle, but an injury to Arlington Hambright forced Jenkins to shift to left tackle for three games.
Jenkins started nine games at right tackle and three games at left tackle during his junior campaign in 2019.
