Below are the teams with the five best odds to acquire Watson, per DraftKings. It's a significant jump from the +1100 odds San Francisco held with the sportsbook just days ago.
- Texans +200
- 49ers +400
- Panthers +450
- Broncos +500
- Dolphins/Jets +1000
On Friday, a report by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler stated that the 49ers were among the teams on Watson's list to which he might consider being traded. The quarterback does have some say in the matter. His no-trade clause means that he has to approve any trade destination.
"I checked in with a source that says Deshaun Watson has a list of teams that he's intrigued by," said Fowler. "He's not pigeonholing anything, but he's got a list. I didn't get all the teams, but I was told that the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers are two of them.
"I also asked the source about the Jets and the Dolphins because they have the most draft capital this year and the next few years. I was told the Jets, 'Eh, probably not.' Maybe more so the Dolphins as far as viability."
One team Watson doesn't want to play for is the Texans. The quarterback is involved in a standoff with his current team and is reportedly ignoring attempts by Houston to reach out to him. Still, the Texans remain with the best odds to have Watson for Week 1.
While it's difficult to envision the Watson-Texans saga ending in any way other than a divorce, it will likely take an unprecedented trade offer to acquire the quarterback, and there will be significant competition. That could hurt the 49ers chances and, for now, Jimmy Garoppolo has to still be considered the favorite to start at quarterback for Week 1.
