San Francisco 49ers VP of player personnel Adam Peters was among the 15 to interview virtually with the Panthers and was among the four to meet in-person with team brass this week. The other three are Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, Kansas City Chiefs assistant director of player personnel Ryan Poles, and Seattle Seahawks vice president of football operations Scott Fitterer.
"Peters has the closest links to the people on the job," wrote Panthers team reporter Darin Gantt, "as he played defensive end at UCLA under a couple of guys who would look very familiar. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule was his position coach in 2001, and UCLA's defensive coordinator that year was Phil Snow, who holds that position with the Panthers now."
Peters was among 49ers general manager John Lynch's first hires in 2017. He helped build a roster that reached Super Bowl LIV after three seasons.
Peters was a part of two Super Bowl championships (XXXVIII in 2003 and XXXIX in 2004) serving as a scouting assistant with the New England Patriots before being promoted to an area scout. Serving as the director of college scouting, he took part in building a Denver Broncos roster that won Super Bowl 50.
