Raheem Mostert seemingly aggravated the ankle injury that forced the running back to miss four games this season. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan sounded optimistic that Mostert would return to practice this week.
"It's kind of how all high-ankle sprains are," Shanahan told reporters. "He zinged it a couple of times in the game, which is going to happen to him a lot, but it felt just a little worse than normal. And he's not practicing today, but (with) the imaging (results), we feel pretty good that he'll be able to get there at the end of the week.
"So, I think it hurts a little bit more than usual, but the imaging was somewhat positive. We're going to take care of him today and allow him to rest, and hopefully, he'll feel a little bit better tomorrow."
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury sustained on Sunday. Linebacker Fred Warner also exited the game against Washington after suffering a stinger but was able to be a limited participant in practice.
The only difference between the actual practice report and what Shanahan estimated before the practice was offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill's participation. The coach didn't expect Brunskill to take part, and the offensive lineman ended up being limited.
The 49ers opened the practice window for tight end George Kittle. He remains on injured reserve so the team is not required to report on his participation level. As shown in the video below, though, Kittle was on the practice field with his teammates.
Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Cowboys, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
