Samuel seemed excited to return to practice this week. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but was a full participant on Friday and was not even listed as "questionable" on the 49ers' game status report, indicating that he is clear to play.
"He was able to practice throughout the week," Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "It was just different circumstances with us having the building closed all last week. We got a good practice on Wednesday, which was nice, but yesterday ... we had to do a bunch of walkthroughs these past two days.
"It has been good to get him out there and stuff, but no one has been able to go that much. So, if he's able to go in the game, we're just going to have to be smart with him."
Samuel has 16 receptions for 185 yards and a touchdown while adding six carries for 14 rushing yards through four games this season.
"It's awesome to have Deebo back out on the (practice) field, first of all," quarterback Nick Mullens said. "... It's awesome to have Deebo back. He's a big-time playmaker for us. We're aware of what he brings to our offense, and it's awesome to share the huddle with him."
