That adds up to 11 49ers players who have landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list this year, and the fourth this week. Armstead landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday. Contact tracing resulted in Kinlaw landing on the list on Wednesday.
The 49ers have been working remotely this week but plan to hold a practice on Friday. Beginning Saturday, every NFL team will be required to operate under the league's intensive protocol for the remainder of the season. That means additional restrictions, including players and coaches requiring a negative from the previous day's testing before entering the facility. All team meetings will be held virtually unless they can be held outdoors or indoors with a pre-approved plan.
San Francisco does not play a game this weekend. The team is within its scheduled bye week and will not take the field against an opponent again until November 29 when they travel to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Rams.
Below is a breakdown of the previous 49ers players who have landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
- WR Richie James, Jul 27, removed Aug 4

The reserve/COVID-19 list has been created for a player who tests positive for COVID-19 or has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, his club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Clubs are not permitted to comment on a player's medical status other than referring to the roster status and may not disclose whether the player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.
