The trade provides the Seahawks with some pass-rushing help. While Dunlap is unlikely to be ready to play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, it is a move that could impact the remainder of the season. Seattle currently leads the NFC West with a 5-1 record, and every team in the division is above .500.
The Bengals made Dunlap a second-round draft pick out of Florida in 2010. The two-time Pro Bowl selection is in his 11th NFL season and racked up nine quarterback sacks last season to go along with his 63 tackles, 21 quarterback hits, eight passes defensed, and two forced fumbles.
Dunlap has recorded eight-or-more sacks in five of his past six seasons and had a career-high 13.5 in 2015. He has one sack through seven games and four starts this season. The defender's last start came in Week 4, and his snap count has fallen since, ending with a 12-snap performance on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
