While Garafolo didn't have the specifics of the injury, merely noting that it was a "leg issue," his colleague, Ian Rapoport later reported that Sherman suffered a calf strain, which requires "a few weeks of rest and rehab."
Head coach Kyle Shanahan last spoke with reporters on Monday and did not include Sherman in his injury updates following Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. We'll likely receive some more clarification this afternoon when Shanahan next speaks with reporters.

The injury leaves Emmanuel Moseley and Ahkello Witherspoon as the likely starting cornerbacks over the next three games. It is unknown if Jason Verrett is healthy enough to return to the field. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury and was among the 49ers' inactive players during Week 1.
The earliest Sherman can return is October 11 against the Miami Dolphins at Levi's Stadium.
