Earlier on Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Atlanta Falcons 38-25. Later, the Los Angeles Rams beat the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 in the first game at SoFi Stadium — albeit without fans to watch.
That means the 49ers start their 2020 season, which the team was so eager to begin as it attempts to make amends from February's Super Bowl loss, in last place within the NFC West.
| W | L | T | Pct | Stk | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cardinals | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 1W |
| Seahawks | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 1W |
| Rams | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 1W |
| 49ers | 0 | 1 | 0 | .000 | 1L |
San Francisco doesn't face another division opponent until Week 6 when it hosts the Rams. The team will try to put this game behind it as it begins a two-game road trip against the New York Jets and Giants at MetLife Stadium.
"We know what we're capable of doing, and we're going to come back strong," defensive end Nick Bosa vowed after the loss.
Former 49ers left tackle Joe Staley, now enjoying retirement from the NFL, summed up the loss pretty well on Sunday.
Two players — wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and linebacker Dre Greenlaw — felt the same way as Bosa, and know the team is capable of overcoming this early-season defeat.
