--He said Grant will line up at the "ted," along with Jeff Ulbrich and Dontarrious Thomas. Brandon Moore is on the other side, behind Patrick Willis at the "mike."
--Nolan said Takeo Spikes is "not out of the pictures," but added that nothing would get done today -- if anything gets done.
--The 49ers have 71 players on their roster and will likely signed six or seven undrafted free agents. The club would like to add a couple offensive linemen and a couple wideouts. He said he wants to add guys that have a chance to make the team.
--Josh Morgan came into meet with the 49ers a couple weeks ago. Nolan did not meet with him, but Morgan had dinner with WR coach Jerry Sullivan.
--The 49ers took only one player (Wallace) whom the staff coached at the Senior Bowl. The time in Mobile, Ala., was not a waste, Nolan said. "You learn who you want and who might be better off on a different team," he said.
--Kentwan Balmer's arrival here is only 4 hours away. Nolan said Balmer had to catch a later flight because someone in his traveling party was late getting to the airport.
Matt Barrows had this to say from his blog, 49ers Blog and Q&A:
Nolan said he has yet to give it a really detailed analysis. But his gut reaction is that the Chiefs had a very strong draft. Sorry, Raiders fans.
Now that the draft is over, the 49ers will concentrate on signing undrafted free agents. Nolan said the team has 71 players right now and probably will add six or so before the May 2 minicamp. Look for them to add two offensive tackles and two receivers.
Nolan said he didn't know Chris Long would line up in the St. Louis defense. He said Long reminded him of Justin Smith "because they have very good motors."
Kentwan Balmer's first press conference with the team was supposed to be at 3 p.m. Balmer, however, missed his flight when some members of his travel party didn't show up on time. Now the presser is at 7 p.m. Thanks, Kentwan.
