No Jalen Hurd or K'Waun Williams updates
Wide receiver Jalen Hurd appeared to injure his foot while working on a side field with a strength coach. He was down for a few minutes and then left practice early while walking gingerly to the locker room. Multiple reporters noted that it didn't look serious, just that it was noteworthy.
Cornerback K'Waun Williams was noticeably absent from practice.
The San Francisco 49ers didn't provide an update on either player. Typically, they will do so to prevent any speculation. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is scheduled to speak with the media again after Monday's practice.
Update: Williams suffered a calf injury during Saturday's practice, according to The Athletic. The severity of the injury is not yet known.
Trent Taylor's shirt grabs some attention
On Saturday, tight end George Kittle sat down to speak with reporters via a video conference call and did so wearing a shirt that read "Garoppolo/Kittle '20."
If you're not too sure about those candidates, wide receiver Trent Taylor offered an alternative while speaking with reporters on Sunday. He wore an altered version of the same shirt.
"I'm still Jimmy's favorite target by far, no matter what George tells anyone else," Taylor told reporters. "That's why we got the shirt."
Taylor is feeling healthy after missing all of last season with a foot injury.
"It felt great to finally put a helmet on and run some routes with the team and against some people," Taylor said. "I just remember going through warmups, just thinking how long it's been since I actually put a helmet on.
"Been able to run around with the team. It was a great feeling. The foot feels amazing right now. I feel 100 percent, so I'm ready to roll."
D.J. Jones fields a punt
How would you like to see big-man D.J. Jones, a defensive tackle, running at you during a punt return with the football in his arms? He got to field one during practice.
"(Special teams coordinator Richard) Hightower teaches us through every situation," Jones said. "He takes us through every situation. It was a short kick. I had to field it. I waited for the returner to replace me, and I take his position."
Excitement for the first padded practice
Both Jones and linebacker Kwon Alexander expressed excitement for the 49ers' first padded practice of training camp, which will take place on Monday.
"Any football player is excited for the first day of pads," Jones said. "If you aren't excited for the first day of pads, what are you playing the game for? Yes, I'll get my sleep tonight, but I'll be tossing and turning thinking about it."
Added Alexander: "That's the main point of the game, to put the pads on. That's when you really can show what you can do. We just can't wait to go out there and have fun. We're excited, ready to get out there and do some work."
Legendary linebackers
Alexander discussed the linebackers' chemistry with another year under their belts.
"Our chemistry is legendary," Alexander said. "The whole group, our coach, DeMeco (Ryans), he always keeps the room excited with energy. We just try to feed off each other, go out there and make plays. Once we see everybody else making plays, and once we make plays, everybody feeds off us."
JaMycal Hasty
Running back Jerick McKinnon discussed undrafted rookie running back JaMycal Hasty.

"He's a really good player," McKinnon said. "Shifty, real fluent in and out of his cuts, a smaller guy like myself. He can catch out of the backfield. And he's picking up real well on the playbook and stuff like that in running back meetings.
"We're expecting a lot out of him and other rookies during this camp, but so far, he's been really impressive in one-on-ones.
"He did a spin move the other day that was pretty impressive. It was real fluent, stayed on his feet, so I think a lot of guys got excited about that. But he's definitely going to be one of the guys that's exciting throughout camp."
