The San Francisco 49ers on Sunday held their second practice of training camp. As will be the case for all practices, fans are not allowed to attend and the limited media in attendance must observe social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic. That means keeping six feet away from players and staff and wearing face coverings at all times.

No face-to-face interviews are allowed as player and staff availability is done over video conference.


The 49ers have two more practices left before players are given a day off on Wednesday. Monday's session will be the first padded practice.

Below are some of Sunday's practice notes from various media sources.



Wide receiver Jalen Hurd "appeared to" injure his foot, falling awkwardly while working on a side field with a strength coach. He was down for a few minutes and then walked gingerly to the locker room, roughly an hour into practice. "Injury doesn't seem serious, but something to monitor," notes Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated. (SI, Sacramento Bee, The Athletic)

Hurd is being eased back onto the practice field after missing all of last season with a back injury and hasn't taken part in team drills.

Defensive lineman Arik Armstead sat out his second consecutive practice with back tightness. Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't seem too concerned while speaking to the media on Saturday. (NBC Sports Bay Area)


Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and tight end George Kittle having some fun...


Cornerback Jason Verrett worked extensively on the left side with the first-team defense. Richard Sherman, who typically occupies that spot, was on the right. (Sacramento Bee)

Cornerbacks Emmanuel Moseley and Ahkello Witherspoon worked primarily with the second-team defense. (ESPN)

Rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk had a strong outing, creating separation from Verrett on one play and catching a deep pass from Jimmy Garoppolo during 7-on-7 drills. (NBC Sports Bay Area)


Rookie tight end Charlie Woerner showed "some legit moves" during 1-on-1 drills. Running back Jerick McKinnon looked agile, as was the case on Saturday. (NBC Sports Bay Area)

Cornerback K'Waun Williams did not practice. Tight end Jordan Reed was also absent. (Sacramento Bee)

Defensive end Nick Bosa looked as good as always, earning a would-be sack of Garoppolo and making an impression on running back Raheem Mostert. He even got the upper hand during 1-on-1s against veteran tackle Trent Williams. Williams responded well, though.


And here is an update on rookie defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw going against veteran guard Laken Tomlinson.
