Safety Jaquiski Tartt was among the San Francisco 49ers' inactive players during each of the final four weeks of the regular season. He wasn't going to miss the playoffs, though, and decided to play through the discomfort of his rib fracture.

"To be honest, I don't even know how I was out there," Tartt explained to reporters on Wednesday via a video conference call. "I knew my team needed me, so I made sure I was able to play and be ready. It's football. It's part of football, being injured."


Tartt suffered a similar injury during training camp in 2017. He looked to be in a lot of pain after going down during practice but ended up playing in nine games before landing on injured reserve with a broken forearm.

Tartt continued: "Some things stop you from playing, but I felt like -- I've been through that injury before, like in 2017. It's something that you can play through."

Tartt ended up compiling 14 tackles, a quarterback hit, and a sack through the 49ers' three playoff games. The sack came against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.

"My main focus (this offseason) was to just get back healthy," Tartt added.
