San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert, armed with a reworked contract, is ready to take on the 2020 season. And yes, he will be playing, in case there was any doubt. Mostert confirmed during a video conference call today that he will not opt-out of the upcoming season as the NFL prepares to play amid a pandemic.

Mostert has a lot to prove, after all, and he feels he and his teammates have the right mindset to respond to February's Super Bowl defeat.

"I just want to go out there and be dominant," Mostert told reporters. "When I step out onto that field, I want everybody to say, 'That's a bad mo-fo. Here's somebody that we can't take lightly.' I want to put fear in other teams' eyes. That's my mindset.

"Even when I'm playing gunner, I just want people to know I'm the best special-teams player to ever play this game, and that's the mindset I'm going to have at running back. I want them to know that I'm the best running back to ever play this game, even though it doesn't show as far as my career-wise. I don't necessarily care about that."

Mostert further explained that he holds himself up to a high standard, especially given his running back room. There is a lot of talent there, and they all help push each other.

"I hold myself to a high standard, and the guys will follow," Mostert added. "It's going to be a great time. I can't wait."

What would make it even greater is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end. Mostert has no shortage of confidence that this 49ers squad can accomplish that goal. He believes everyone on the roster believes they can return to the Super Bowl. A return trip, however, won't be enough.

"I feel like we're going to be back this year," Mostert continued, "and we're actually going to win it. That's our goal; that's our mindset. We don't care what happened in the past. The past is the past, and we're going to move on, and we're going to dominate this game the way we know how to.

"The energy right now is just crazy, especially during these walk-throughs. Guys are really amped up. It's more so a run-through, slash, little miniature practice. I know I'm not allowed to say that, but it's just so awesome. The energy is just unbelievable.

"We love each other. This is a family and a brotherhood. We'll fight for it. So, we're definitely feeling like we're back in our Super Bowl form. We've got some unfinished business, and we're ready to take care of business."
