"Happy we got things worked out and looking forward to him having another great season there," wrote Tessler. "Thanks to the organization for taking care of him."
Mostert was scheduled to earn a base salary of just $2.575 million in 2020. He can now earn over $5 million in 2020, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Mostert remains in the second year of the three-year deal initially signed on March 15, 2019, as the contract length was not altered.
Mostert plans to report to training camp tomorrow for COVID-19 testing, as scheduled.
Tessler announced on July 8 that he and his client had requested a trade from the 49ers after what was described as months of unproductive contract negotiations. A report by Ian Rapoport stated that Mostert is merely seeking to become the 49ers' highest-paid running back. Tevin Coleman, who will earn a base salary of $4.55 million in 2020, the final year of his two-year deal, was the team's highest-paid back before Mostert's reworked contract was finalized.
Mostert led the team with 772 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 137 carries last season. San Francisco earned a Super Bowl berth thanks in large part to the running back's 29-carry, 220-yard, and four-touchdown performance against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
Mostert entered the NFL after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue in 2015. He spent time with several teams before landing with the 49ers on November 28, 2016.
