Retired San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley has sold his home in Menlo Park, California, for $5.475 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. That's over $1 million more than the price he paid for the property in 2015 ($4.474 million), in an area where the median sale of a home last year was $2.3 million.

The property sits in a cul-de-sac on over a quarter of an acre of land, has four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and the house is more than 3,300 square feet, according to Neal J. Leitereg, who covers celebrity real estate for the Los Angeles Times.


The former offensive lineman spent his offseasons in the San Diego area. He would often train in Carlsbad, which is just over 30 miles north of San Diego.

Staley retired from football in April, announcing the decision on the third day of the NFL Draft. He played all 13 years of his illustrious career with the 49ers, the team that drafted him No. 28 overall in 2007.

Staley, a longtime favorite player among 49ers fans, was named to six Pro Bowls and the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. He hasn't dismissed the possibility of remaining a part of the organization, even in retirement.

"I still have a huge love for the game of football, obviously," Staley said in April, "and I think I can definitely serve in some capacity because I have a lot of knowledge, and I feel like I'm a pretty good teacher.

"I would love to get into coaching, possibly down the road. But if not that, maybe some kind of consulting maybe. I definitely won't be a stranger around here or nothing like that."
