In honor of the thousands of 49ers fans graduating from elementary, middle, high school, college, and beyond, the 49ers hosted a virtual graduation to celebrate the Class of 2020. The graduation featured musical performances by country artist Tyler Rich and 49ers DL Dee Ford, a commencement address given by former 49ers T Joe Staley and congratulatory messages from DL Arik Armstead, DL Ronald Blair III, DL Nick Bosa, OL Ben Garland, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, K Robbie Gould, FB Kyle Juszczyk, TE George Kittle, T Mike McGlinchey, RB Raheem Mostert, DL Solomon Thomas, LB Fred Warner, the 2020 Rookies, team president Al Guido, general manager John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, CEO Jed York and alumni Jerry Rice and Steve Young.
The 49ers also recognized the first graduating class of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI), a six-year program started in 2014 in partnership with Chevron, the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and the Santa Clara Unified School District to provide educational opportunities for students interested in STEM education. Medha, SLI senior gave a speech during the 49ers @Home Graduation dedicated to her fellow SLI classmates and all of the graduates part of the Class of 2020.
