Mostert discussed what the moment meant to him during a conversation with NFL Network.
"He came up to me after the game, and down the tunnel," Mostert said. "We talked, and he was just like, 'Hey man, I'm so proud of you.'"
In a video of the moment, as other 49ers players headed to the locker room, Williams could be heard saying the following to Mostert: "We came a long way, you hear me? Man, I love you, bro."
"We've been through a lot," Mostert continued. "We both have the same journey, both being undrafted guys. I played with him in Miami, and he was always overlooked. ... So was I, and that's why we had a great bond. I told him, 'Man, look, it's your moment. I hope you win MVP,' because he played lights-out."
Williams didn't end up winning the MVP award for the game. That honor went to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also helped engineer the Chief's late fourth-quarter comeback.
"I was proud of him," Mostert added. "I was so happy that he was able to get that championship ring. And as far as the jersey goes, yeah, we swapped jerseys, but I eventually gave it back to him because I understood the importance of that jersey. He's going to cherish that jersey for a long time.
"It was very important that we both got our jerseys back. It was a great gesture by both of us that we swapped jerseys, not thinking anything else, and that's just what happens when you love one another. That's my brother. I will do anything for him."
