The deal is for one year, per the linebacker's agent.
Lee, 24, is preparing to enter his fourth NFL season. The linebacker was a restricted free agent but the 49ers opted not to tender him a contract, allowing him to sign with any team.
The Minnesota Vikings made Lee a seventh-round selection out of Kansas State in 2017, but was waived and then signed to the practice squad before the start of his rookie campaign.
The 49ers signed Lee off of the Vikings practice squad on September 13, 2017. The linebacker spent part of this past season on San Francisco's practice squad but was promoted to the active roster on November 5, 2019, and registered seven combined tackles through eight games and one start. He appeared in all three of San Francisco's playoff games, including Super Bowl LIV, where he registered two tackles.
Lee has recorded 76 combined tackles, a sack, two passes defensed, and two forced fumbles through his three NFL seasons. He racked up a career-high 65 tackles and five starts in 2018.
