Sherman has been an NFLPA player representative since September of 2014 and was re-elected in 2018, the same year he signed with San Francisco.
Cleveland Browns center JC Tretter was elected to be the NFLPA president on Tuesday. He replaces Eric Winston. It was reported on Monday that Sherman was not interested in being a candidate for that job.
NFL players are currently voting on the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and will have until Saturday to do so. Sherman was among the vocal opponents of the proposed deal, which gives the NFL the option to increase the regular season by one game per team, creating a 17-game schedule.
