Ian Rapoport joined Andrew Siciliano and Tom Pelissero on NFL Network Wednesday. He made it clear that there has been nothing coming from the 49ers that would indicate they are even contemplating the notion of adding the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Siciliano asked Rapoport on NFL Now if Brady-to-49ers is a thing.
"We're definitely making it a thing," Rapoport responded while smiling. "I will say that. ... A lot of the same people who are trusted sources on their own guys are fantastically entertaining rumor-mongers on other guys, and it's a lot of fun."
Rapoport notes that the Brady-to-49ers discussion was a popular topic in the rumor and gossip circles during the NFL Scouting Combine, which seems to be where the chatter gained steam.
While landing with San Francisco would likely be appealing to the 42-year-old Brady, Rapoport isn't convinced the 49ers are even considering the move. The NFL insider adds that the team likes Jimmy Garoppolo, with head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch being very vocal in their support of the quarterback.
"From what I understand, that has not changed at all," Rapoport added. "So all this is theoretically possible and fun to talk about. I haven't found anything to substantiate it, at this point."
Meanwhile, All-Pro tight end George Kittle is making it clear who he expects his quarterback to be in 2020.
