As Rapoport states, Alexander is expected to fully recover in time for the 2020 season. The report of the biceps injury is new.
The star linebacker suffered a torn pectoral muscle during a Week 9 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The injury landed Alexander on injured reserve on November 5, and he wasn't expected to play again during the 2019 season.
Alexander returned for the playoffs, and the 49ers' Super Bowl run. He appeared in all three postseason games and recorded two tackles and a pass defensed in those matchups.
Alexander finished the regular season with 34 tackles, 0.5 sacks, four passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble through eight starts. He is preparing to enter his sixth NFL season and second with San Francisco.
The linebacker restructured his contract in November, following his injury, saving the 49ers over $8 million in salary-cap space this year.
